Kessler Effect – Be Free

Over the Summer of 2022 I made this video along with the Kessler Effect lads to promote their song Be Free from their 2022 studio EP Kepler.

Kessler Effect are a Progressive Rock group from Donegal, Ireland that have been described in the past as a similar vein to that of King Crimson and Dream Theater, although Collisions and this song in particular take a slightly different direction – leaning into a bit more of a Beatles feel.

I went with the guys to the Balor Theatre in Ballybofey and helped them to film the entire launch gig for this EP, which forms the performance part of the video. It was shot with a combination of DSLR, bridge and GoPro cameras. Then we filmed the scripted parts at top secret locations around Donegal, using a Canon DSLR and an iPhone. The editing and post-production was all done using DaVinci Resolve.

The audio of launch gig for Kepler was also recorded and is now available for streaming as a fantastic live album.

Disturbance 2nd July – Cottage Bar Letterkenny

Here’s some video and photos I took from the July 2022 Disturbance. It was a great night, the atmosphere was absolutely electric. It’s great to have live music back. Stolen Relic kicked the evening off with a great classic rock and blues set, including a cover of Bob Segers ‘Rosalie’ (albeit in the Thin Lizzy style). See the video below. Then Tramp took to the stage. I have to say I was absoloutley blown away by these new comers, who delivered a multi genre set with a punk rock attitude. Ones. To. Watch. After Tramp we had the main act, Invaderband, who are at this stage underground heroes. Extremely tight, with a refined post punk sound.

Halloween Concert Promo Video

Inspired by the Simpsons Hallowen intro sequence, this Halloween promo video was made using Photoshop and Davinci Resolve.

Kessler Effect – “Shadow” Music Video

Music video I conceptualised with the theme of the song in mind. I then shot, directed and edited the project. This was a particularly challenging shoot as it was filmed in summer 2020 during Covid-19, so compliance with regulations added a new layer of organisation. Shot on a Canon DSLR and editing and post production done in Da Vinci Resolve and Fusion.

Copper Quill Interview Titles

My most recent edit was of an interview for The Copper Quill – Literary Magazine of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College. Below is the title sequence, created using Photoshop, Fusion and Davinci Resolve.

Nigel Hegarty – ‘Give Me some Therapy’ Lyric Video

Music video with a mental health theme, which posed a unique problem – to beĀ  made entirely in the isolation of 2020 lockdown. The result is a lyric video made using phone footage and some stock footage found online, heavily textured to give it a retro aesthetic. Created using Photoshop, Inkscape, Davinci Resolve and Fusion. Notion

Motion graphics project created using After Effects and Autodesk Maya. The brief was to create a promo video for a unique tablet.
